  • No, while we do accept some insurances for individual therapy, the way our groups and workshops are structured is outside of the medical model and therefore do not meet the criteria for medical necessity (i.e. the need for treatment as indicated by a mental health diagnosis).

  • Yes. Our groups and workshops are designed to complement individual therapy.

  • No. Our groups and workshop series are designed to be accessible. Our groups are about building community, creating connections, and holding a place for people to show up as their authentic selves. When we are connected and feel supported, we believe there will be many positive outcomes, including improved mental health.

  • We get it, we are all busy. In an effort to make our groups and workshops more accessible, many will be offered in both an online and in-person format. And to be brutally honest, there will never be time unless you make it. Isn't it time you prioritized yourself for once?

  • Our groups and workshops are designed in a way that you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Part of the magic of the group experience is hearing what other participants have to share and relating in some way. In our groups and workshops, there will be opportunities to share and connect, but all members will always have the opportunity to pass on sharing.

Insurance Information

Insurance Accepted: BCBS, Peak Health & PEIA (UMR only).

Out-of-Network Benefits: Mind Body Wellness is out-of-network for all other insurance companies. You can call your insurance company to find out if you have out-of-network coverage for mental health. If you choose to use your out-of-network benefits, we will provide you with a “superbill” on a monthly basis that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. Payment in full will be due at the time of service.

  • What is my benefit year?

Do I have (out-of-network) mental health coverage?

What is my deductible (for out-of-network coverage)? Individual? Family?

How much has been met toward this deductible? Individual? Family?

What are my out-of-pocket expenses (for out-of-network benefits)?  Do my out-of-pocket expenses include my deductible?

Do I have a co-pay (a set dollar amount) or co-insurance (a percentage of the total fee for that session) (for out-of-network benefits)?  If so, what is the amount or percentage?

Do I need authorization for mental health (out-of-network) benefits?

Is there a visit limit?  If so, how many visits can I receive per benefit year?  Is it possible if I meet medical necessity to get additional visits?

  • Increased confidentiality: you must be aware that submitting a mental health invoice for reimbursement carries a certain amount of risk to confidentiality and privacy. The risk stems from the fact that mental health information is likely to be entered into insurance companies’ computers and possibly shared with the Medical Information Bureau (MIB). Accessibility to companies’ computers is always in question as computers are inherently vulnerable to break-ins and unauthorized access. The MIB is a health information-clearing house. Your MIB file is frequently referenced when you are applying for insurance such as life, health, disability income, long-term care or critical illness insurance.

No need for a diagnosis: when you decide to use insurance for mental health services, a diagnosis is required to bill insurance. Insurance companies do not reimburse for all issues/conditions/problems, which are dealt with in psychotherapy.

Limit of session length and limit of number of sessions: some insurance companies dictate the length of a therapy session they will reimburse for and/or limit the number of sessions you can receive per benefit year. At Mind Body Wellness, a typical follow-up session is 55 minutes in length, as we have found this to be the time that is most beneficial for a typical therapy session. And while we want you to achieve your treatment goals in a timely fashion, each individual’s circumstances are unique, and treatment length is based on your needs and circumstances.
